Faithful Heart began in the basement of John Gazaway’s house in late winter of 2000. Initially, John Gazaway, Betty Jeffries and her son Joseph Dudley met to begin a group in the New Georgia area. At the time all of them were members of Pine Ridge Church. Joe had been bugging John about starting a new group and eventually the work began. Working through a few sessions they soon realized that a third part was needed and I was invited to come try out. I didn't know John or Joe and had only briefly been introduced to Betty. We stumbled through a few songs and as the awkwardness wore off we began to have a ball, laughing and cutting up like we had known each other for years. The harmony was just in and out that first night and I left wondering if I would ever see that basement again… John called me the next day and we soon met again. We worked and worked and worked for 3 or 4 months at least 2 nights a week and Faithful Heart slowly emerged from that basement. We carried a live band with Mike Jeffries playing bass and Roger Attaway on drums. God blessed us as we traveled all over Metro-Atlanta, South Georgia, North Georgia and beyond for 8 years or so. We had equipment breakdowns, bus breakdowns, we got lost, we ran late and through it all God was faithful to His word and as we all look back today we can say it was worth every mile of the trip!

God Bless You,
Darryl Roach
