Rev. Roscoe Spivey Birth: Jan. 20, 1911 Elf, Clay County North Carolina, USA Death: Feb. 9, 2009 Union County, Georgia, USA Rev. Roscoe Spivey, 98, of Hayesville was a native of Clay County, where he had lived most of his life. He was the son of the late John and Jenny Kitchens Spivey and the husband of the late Lacy Burrell Spivey, who died Aug. 31, 1985 and the late Alice Silvers Goodwin Spivey, who died Feb. 11, 1999. Roscoe had driven a school bus, worked for the NC Department of Wildlife Transportation, but had been a preacher since 1952 and was presently pastoring Bell Creek House of Prayer Full Gospel Church of which he was a member. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Spivey; two grandchildren, Keith Ramsey and Deanna Lynn Spivey Ledford; and one great great grandson, Gary Ryan Ledford. |

Surviving are three daughters, JoAnn Jennings and husband, Larry of Carrollton, GA, and Polly Spivey and Peggy Legg and husband, Evan all of Blairsville, GA; a son, David Spivey and wife, Lois of Edmond, OK; six step-sons, Jerry Goodwin and wife, B.J., James Goodwin, Gerald Goodwin and wife, Connie, Jimmy Goodwin and wife, Maudine, J.R. Goodwin, and Robert Goodwin all of Hiawassee, GA; a sister, Willa Mae Parker of Hiawassee; and 35 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
